Policy 06

Environmental Responsibility

“Digital work isn’t impact-free. We make sensible improvements, and we don’t greenwash.”

Rendering, storage, equipment, travel, printing and the technology we use all consume resources. We aim to reduce our impact in practical ways without making claims we can’t back up.

At a glance

The short version.

1

Reduce before offsetting

Avoid unnecessary renders, duplicate files, travel and print runs first.

2

Make kit last

Repair and upgrade before replacing, wipe data securely and use proper e-waste routes.

3

No greenwashing

Any environmental claim we make must be truthful, specific and backed by evidence.

In practice

What we commit to.

  • Use previews instead of full renders where they answer the creative question
  • Review and tidy cloud storage and archives rather than letting them grow
  • Use sensible power-management settings on equipment
  • Combine trips and use remote meetings where they genuinely avoid travel
  • Keep crew size and transport proportionate on shoots
  • Avoid short-lived promotional items and unnecessary print
  • Challenge obviously unsupported green claims in client work

The detail

Everything else.

The key parts of the policy, in plain English. The downloadable PDF is the full, controlled version.

Scope

Studio operations and utilities, computers and render kit, travel, filming and events, print and packaging, digital storage and cloud rendering, purchasing, and environmental statements in our own marketing and in client work.

Energy and digital production

High-performance workstations and render systems can use significant electricity, so we avoid unnecessary test renders and unattended processes, and delete temporary or duplicate material when there’s no reason to keep it.

Travel and production

Face-to-face work still matters where it improves collaboration or production, but we combine trips and keep location choices, crew and transport proportionate.

Suppliers and purchasing

Environmental factors are weighed alongside cost, quality, security and delivery, and never on vague marketing claims alone.

Waste and housekeeping

Recycling where facilities allow, proper disposal of batteries and electronics, and not leaving lights, heating or equipment running unnecessarily.

Responsibilities and review

Operations coordinates practical improvements and everyone is encouraged to suggest realistic changes. The policy is reviewed every year.

Laws and guidance this policy follows
  • Competition and Markets Authority: Green Claims Code
  • CMA: Making green claims, getting it right across the supply chain (January 2026)
  • Applicable waste, electrical equipment and environmental legislation
