Healthcare animation & video production

Complex health messages, made human.

From patient information videos to pharma animation that shows a drug’s mechanism of action, we turn treatments, services and research into stories patients, families and the public understand, without losing the accuracy that matters.

Featured project

An award for McCann Healthcare.

Plasticine animation

The treatment didn’t promise a dramatic cure. It simply helped patients lead more ordinary lives.

The challenge
McCann Healthcare needed to communicate the impact of a new schizophrenia treatment, honestly and memorably.
What we did
Plasticine animation: a looming clay monster is scrunched up by a scientist’s hand, then the same clay is reshaped by the man it once haunted into a family car.
The result
An everyday medical benefit told as a simple, metaphorical story. Engaging, memorable and award-winning.

More healthcare work

From waiting rooms to research labs.

Patient information

Simplifying complex services for NHS patients

NHS

The NHS needed to tell the public about their care services. Our videos turned complex service descriptions into clear, relatable stories that spoke directly to patients and carers.

Procedure explainer

Explaining MRI scans to the public

UK Biobank

To prepare participants for MRI scans, our explainer videos demystified the process, reduced anxiety and increased compliance, making a medical procedure feel accessible and safe.

Research

Explaining university research findings

King’s College London & Keele University

When universities needed to share healthcare research with mass audiences, our explainer animations translated academic reports into engaging stories that stuck with viewers.

Public health

Public health messages that don’t feel like announcements

Stokie Street / VAST

Complex topics like vaccination, exercise and mental health, told as short, character-led stories rooted in everyday life, with real voices that make them feel human and easy to engage with.

C&W have delivered an excellent job by producing a high-quality animation to help us disseminate our research to a wide audience. They are a joy to work with, clearly explained the process, and went the extra mile to ensure we were 100% happy.

Why animation for healthcare?

Accessible to everyone. Accurate for experts.

Animation makes complex information accessible to all by:

Grabbing attention

Engaging visuals that make a good first impression and hold attention, even in a busy waiting room.

Communicating clearly

Messages that land with people who have little or no experience of your topic.

Keeping its integrity

Information simplified without being compromised, so clinicians and researchers can stand behind it.

Why it matters

When the message doesn’t land…

When healthcare messaging fails

  • Patients miss treatments and skip check-ups
  • Messages fail to hook and hold attention
  • Families are left confused, frustrated and unsupported
  • Drop-out rates rise and resources are wasted
  • Research never reaches the people it’s meant for

With animated healthcare videos

  • Patients feel informed, confident and supported
  • NHS and healthcare resources are put to better use
  • Families understand the latest research and treatments
  • Complex jargon becomes clear, everyday language
  • More lives improved, more outcomes achieved

Good questions

Healthcare animation questions, answered.

How long does a healthcare animation take?
Most of our healthcare films take 6–10 weeks from brief to final delivery, including time for medical and regulatory review. We build review rounds into the schedule from day one.
Can you work with our medical, legal and regulatory review team?
Yes. We work with pharma, NHS and university teams who need sign-off at each stage. We share scripts, storyboards and animatics for review before any final animation is made.
2D or 3D for medical animation?
3D is best for showing how a treatment works inside the body. 2D is often quicker and clearer for patient pathways, services and behaviour change. Many of our films mix the two.

Got a health message that needs to land?

Whether it’s a treatment, a service or a research finding, tell us who needs to understand it and we’ll help you find the clearest way to show them.
